Baum, L. Frank: #17 The Cowardly Lion of Oz HB/No DJ 1st/1st

Baum, L. Frank: #17 The Cowardly Lion of Oz HB/No DJ 1st/1st Publisher: Reilly & Lee, 1917 The copyright on the title page is 1918. This is a first edition which includes all of the plates. The spine has an expected (unique) Reilly | & Lee. And the last gathering is just 8 pages. The book is in G/VG condition. There are some spots and closed tears internally. However there are not significant missing pieces. The tear on the tile page crosses about 3/4 of the page. I tried to show it but its hard to see. There is a small "worm" hole in the top spine area. Its quite hard to see because its deep in the gutter (I almost missed it). There is a name and inscription in the "This book . . ." box. And, a 50 price in front. The book has 4 rounded corners and other than noted, there is no writing or marks in the book. This is not a remainder, book club or ex-library copy. The binding is mostly straight but a bit shaken. Please note: The picture(s) are of the actual item for sale. (Pictures are NOT stock photos.) If the book has a dust jacket: (1) The dust jacket is protected in a Brodart to ensure that it remains in the best possible condition. (2) The Brodarted dust jacket is not taped to the book. (3) When we take a picture of a book (or make a scan), it may cause a glare on the plastic of the Brodart. This is not a defect in the book or jacket; it is just a reflection off the Brodart. Shipping for this item is $4 for media rate (for U.S. addresses). If you want Priority Mail, send your address and well calculate it. Insurance optional for orders under $50. DEFINITIONS First thus refers to the first printing of a new edition of a book. TPB refers to a trade paperback edition. Trade paperbacks are oversized paperback editions. PBO (Paperback Original) means this is a first edition/first printing paperback, which is also the first time this book was published (the true first edition of this book). ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) means this was a limited edition paperback (usually paperback) copy of a soon to be released hard back book. BOOK GRADING GUIDE Because hobbies have different words for describing conditions, Id like to tell you how I grade the collectibles I sell. Books are graded with the ABA standard in mind. That means books range from G (good) to Fine. I dont use a VFN or any form of Mint to describe a book. A book that is NF (near fine) can also be thought of as almost new. A full list of typical conditions ranges from: G, VG, VG+, VG+/NF, NF, to FN
